Weihai has opened a number of cross-border trains to Germany (Hamburg, Duisburg), Uzbekistan (Tashkent) and other Central Europe and Central Asia.

By accelerating the construction of the Weihai International Logistics Multimodal Transportation Centre and the supporting industrial park, goods can be directly transported to Hamburg and Duisburg in Germany and Tashkent in Uzbekistan by the China-Europe and Central Asia trains in Weihai.

Weihai is a fine city of ecological livability. Weihai has a pleasant climate, with four distinct seasons and abundant sunshine. Weihai is a blue sea leisure capital and a world-class urban habitat，and the entire jurisdiction is surrounded by turquoise seas and lush mountains.

The air quality of Weihai has been steadily reaching the national secondary standard for six consecutive years, and the water quality of the near-shore waters has all met the requirements of the corresponding functional areas. "It has been awarded the "United Nations Habitat Award" and "China Habitat Environment Award",and has been selected as a "National Garden City". "National Model Greening City" and "National Forest City", and won the highest environmental protection award in the social field, the "China Environment Award", and became the first prefecture-level city in China to build a national ecological civilization construction. The city has 7 Grade A hospitals, 7 beds per 1,000 population, a life expectancy of 82 years per inhabitant, and the leading health indicators in the province, and has been continuously listed as China's happiest city.

High quality innovation platforms and talent resources

Weihai Torch Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone was included in the Shandong Peninsula National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone, and the proportion of output value of the city's hi-tech industry reached 60.89%.

Weihai City is actively creating the China National (Weihai) Regional Innovation Centre, creating a dense area for cooperation between industry, academia and research, and a new highland for innovation development.

Eleven Institutions of High Education, including Shandong University, Harbin Institute of Technology and Beijing Jiaotong University, have set up campuses in Weihai. Weihai has more than 20,000 industrial enterprises of all kinds, 18 of which are listed on the stock exchange and 8 national manufacturing champions.

Weihai is an important production base for fishing gear, tyres, carpets, medical polymer products, printers and new materials in China.

Weihai is rich in marine resources, producing more than 300 kinds of marine products such as prawns, sea cucumbers, abalone, shellfish, algae and various economic fish.

Weihai has the largest fishing port in northern China, the only national marine fishery base and the national quality inspection centre for seafood.

China's National Pilot City for Innovative Development of Services Trade

In February 2016, Weihai was successfully selected as China's national pilot city for the innovative development of trade inservices.

We are fully committed to building a benchmark city for innovation and cooperation in trade in services, a demonstration city for industrial integration of trade in services between China and South Korea, and a national city for innovation in new business models of trade in services.

It has taken the lead in building the first physical industrial park for trade in services in China. It has been operated by highly innovative enterprises from home and abroad, such as Softbank of Japan, Bapangof Korea, Alibaba and Longchao, and has become a demonstration zone of modern service industry clustering in Shandong Province.

International development concept and high-level investment environment

Weihai is one of the first coastal open cities in China and is currently implementing an internationalization strategy to develop a rich, civilized and beautiful city.

Weihai has established partnerships with 19 foreign cities and has developed economic and trade cooperation with over 200 countries and regions, making it the most open city in Shandong Province.

At present, there are 1,441 foreign invested enterprises in the city, and a number of Fortune 500 companies and multinational corporations, such as Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, Softbank, Bekaertand Air Liquide, have settled in Weihai.
